Girls write a letter to their future selves
Join us for a little time travel this International Women's Day
We believe girls can do anything: so, this International Women’s Day, we asked girls to tell us about their big dreams.
The prompt we gave was ‘Picture yourself in 20 years: What do you see?’
From wishes for a greener planet to dreaming of a cozy home with a splash-tastic swimming pool, these Brownies had plenty to say about their lives in 20 years, and the kind of women they hope to become.

Dear Diyaani,
In the future, I want to be a singer. I want to be able to live my own life and be great. I hope to see less deforestation and climate change, but more freedom for woman. I want to live a happy life. The people who inspire me to keep going and never stop trying are my family.
Lots of love,

Dear Savanna,
I am writing to tell you might be a young, kind, women. In the future I hope I have long black silky hair. I want to live in a world where there is no pollution. I hope there are still trees and rainforests left and people are not wasting paper. I also hope I am good at many different types of sports. I hope I have achieved my dream of being a singer and I am famous. I wish to have a huge house with a swimming pool because I love swimming because it is so fun. I hope the people in my neighbourhood are kind, helpful, caring and loving.
Yours sincerely,
Savanna

Dear Ayva,
In twenty years I hope I am hardworking yet still enjoying myself and staying positive. I would still love to live in England as it has great education and not many natural disasters.
By the time I’m 30 I wish to be black belt in Karate and get into one of London’s greatest university.
I hope I will be good hearted and always caring for others. When I’m older I want the world and environment to be in peace.
I hope you read my letter and succeed in my future goals.

Dear Surina,
In 20 years time I would like to be a fashion designer and I want to be able to not sit in classrooms doing math problems, unfortunately now I am and being in year 5 makes things even harder. I really like drawing, painting colouring and sewing best of all. I could sit there for hours doing something interesting and making tiny crafts and little paper boxes. I would like to live in my parents house until I am 30 because then I will miss my bed which sounds silly but is very important. Also I will miss my mummy’s (and my daddy’s) food.
Love,

Dear Mila,
In 20 years time I would like to become a fashion designer or work with computers. I really hope that climate change will diminish and wars will become less frequent. Right now in 2024, climate change is a massive problem, despite having people like Greta Thunberg trying to help it. Wars are really destructive now, and are injuring innocent people. I really want this to stop.
Did your dreams and goals change as you grew? I wonder. I hope that in 20 years time I have many friends like I do now. I really like school and drawing, but I love to paint the best. I also find pleasure in reading and going outside once in a while. I love to make things out of recyclable objects and see what I can turn them into.
I hope that in the future I will live somewhere sunny. London is very rainy in the winter and boiling hot in the summer. It is hardly ever the right temperature. I want to live near my family and friends so I can easily talk to them. The only family I have in the UK is my sister, parents and aunty. Most of my family is spread across: Africa, Asia, America and Europe.
I hope that you enjoy your life now and still remember being a child.
Mila

Dear Dhiya,
In 20 years time, I will be 29. Surprising right! I hope in the future I will be a doctor because I really want to be one. Please make that happen. I really love myself and want to inspire myself by doing lots of things that I will like in the future.
By the time I am 29, maybe lots of things might change like Jupiter might have 3 earths on it by that hurricane. Who knows.
I might look different and might dye my hair or straighten it. Hope I do!
From myself
