The Big Help Out starts on Monday, 8 May and carries on throughout the summer.
Many Girlguiding areas across the UK are planning some amazing events to reach out to new volunteers. Here are just a few:
South West England
Girlguiding South West England region have set up the tri-guiding challenge, designed for the public, to encourage people to volunteer.
Girlguiding Cornwall are holding a King’s Coronation Fete with activities for young members and their parents. This will include a family picnic.
In Salisbury, local guiding members from Girlguiding Wiltshire South will be running a stall at the city’s community Coronation fete.
Girlguiding Southampton Central division are planning an event at Southampton’s Guildhall Square. They’re planning activities such as marshmallow toasting and circus skills so families can have a go. They’re also hoping to hold a wide game around the city centre for families to take part.
Girlguiding Cheltenham will be at the Imperial Gardens to encourage members of the public to try out some programme activities and meet current volunteers.
Girlguiding Pitton and Farley are running an open evening at the local village hall on Tuesday, 9 May. This is for people to drop in and find out more about guiding.
Girlguiding Barry are calling for volunteers to help them with gardening and decorating the Guide hall on 8 May.
Wrexham Girlguiding headquarters are also asking volunteers to tidy up their building including painting and helping fill in potholes. This'll take place between May and July.
In County Fermagagh, there will be a big community paddle and picnic, supported by Lough Erne Landscape partnership, the RNLO and the community. Local guiding will have a stand and will also help at the volunteer village.
Guiding is taking part in a parade for youth in Comber, County Down. This will be followed by an afternoon of activities and a barbecue.
North West England
Lancashire South County are taking part at the Mayor of Wigan event. There will be a mini football pitch, climate change area and an adventure area. Potential volunteers will help tidy up afterwards.
A bring a friend recruitment event is being organised by North West England region.
Anglia region are holding a recruitment campaign on Monday, 8 May with a charity abseil at The Forum in Norwich.
London and South East England
Girlguiding Sussex East are holding a variety of recruitment roadshows in August.
