5 winter warmer ideas

Embrace cold dark evenings with these fun and warming activities

04 January 2018

1. Dance to carnival beats

Channel the sunshine, sparkle and beats of the world famous Rio Carnival, which takes place from 9-14 February. Celebrate by putting on your dancing shoes or trying samba drumming - you’ll be feeling the heat in no time. There are lots of fun videos on YouTube you could follow!

2. Keep dry with arty umbrellas

Decorate umbrellas and put them to the test in the rain. You could turn a white umbrella into a stripy zebra, or a green one into a googly eyed frog – the (rainy) sky’s the limit.

3. Stay warm with a campfire

Sometimes the oldies are the best! Hold a traditional campfire complete with toasting marshmallows, singing songs and playing games while keeping warm and cosy around the fire.

4. Take inspiration from the Winter Olympics

From 9-25 February the Winter Olympics skis, slides and glides into South Korea. Get involved closer to home by going ice skating, trying your hand at snow sports or - if there’s no snow in sight - try grass sledging instead.
