World Centres
Take a dip in Our Cabaña's outdoor swimming pool, hike through the Swiss mountains surrounding Our Chalet or volunteer at Sangam, India
A trip to any of the World Centres is an unforgettable international guiding experience
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) run five World Centres in London, Mexico, Switzerland, India and a moving centre across Africa.
We love it! Kate, Guides
Explore our centres
Each centre offers a programme of events and activities reflecting the character of the country where it’s located.
Visiting
Visiting is a great opportunity for girls and women from around the world to learn more about other countries and cultures. Both from each other and from their surroundings. The centres are warm and friendly places to visit for:
- An adventurous trip with your unit
- A unique holiday
- An empowering regional seminar
A special volunteering experience
Remember to bring your passport!
One of the exciting things you can do while at Sangam is climb the water tower at sunrise for amazing views. Make sure you’re safe to do this by requesting to look at the risk assessment and only go up with a guide. If you have any concerns talk to the World Centre team and make sure that your travel insurance covers any activity that you choose to do.
Volunteering at the World Centres
Our Cabana, Our Chalet, Sangam and Pax Lodge run volunteering programmes and internships. They are a chance to gain new skills, live abroad and experience the world centres in a completely new way. Keep an eye out on each world centre’s website for current opportunities.
Applications for volunteering usually ask for endorsement from the international commissioner. Find out how to get an endorsement on the WAGGGS page.

Stories from the World Centres
'I held snakes and pigeons, conquered my fears by climbing a rope ladder and abseiled down Sangam's iconic water tower. The unique feeling of the Sangam spirit is hard to describe. If you get the opportunity – please go!'
'The 10th Helen Storrow Seminar took place at Our Chalet, high up in the Swiss Alps. We couldn't have asked for a more inspirational setting to discuss the theme – Young Women Leading for a Greener Future.'
'My experience took me to Africa for the first time, to a turtle beach and even on safari, but best of all it took me to a location where a month of my time could make a huge difference. My Kusafiri experience will remain close to my heart forever.'
Do something unforgettable
