I volunteered through the Duke of Edinburgh's Award
Sulekha, 14, was volunteering for her Duke of Edinburgh's Award when she started to help out and make a difference at Brownies
I've always wanted to be more involved in my local community and Girlguiding welcomes all volunteers.
I am a Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) volunteer with my local Brownie unit. I've always wanted to be more involved in my local community and Girlguiding welcomes all volunteers.
Encouraging girls to engage with their community
The more I volunteer with the girls, the more my passion to help them grows. We encourage the girls to engage in the community. I want to help my group grow in confidence and develop a better understanding of the world around them.
I'm staying on at Brownies
Even though I've now done enough volunteering to get my DofE Award, I've enjoyed working with the Brownies so much that I've decided to stay on.
Ways to welcome young volunteers
Our 'Lead into guiding' project connects us with volunteers through the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, National Citizen's Service, Vinspired and other youth organisations.
