Fun in the fresh air - new challenges to try
We challenge you to get out and about, explore nature and have more adventures at home!
Our new Adventures at home challenges are here
One of the best things about this time of year is getting outdoors, enjoying the good weather (when it arrives!), seeing plants in bloom and listening to birds. So our latest challenges for girls are all about getting outside and getting creative.
You can do these together with your unit, or you can send them on to girls to do at home. Our challenges are not part of the Girlguiding programme, but they are inspired by the topics that girls tell us they care about. We hope they inspire girls to try new things and learn new skills.
For Rainbows and Brownies
Close your eyes and think about what your favourite things to do outside are. Maybe you like to play with friends, splash in water, read a book or even do a bit of gardening.
We want to challenge you to try something new outside. Think about what you like to do outside, now think about something that’s the opposite. Your challenge is to do that instead.
Challenge your Rainbows and Brownies to escape the indoors! These ideas will get them thinking about ways to connect with nature – even when they don’t have a lot of outdoor space. All the suggestions can be tried in your local park, your garden, a balcony or even by a big window. Connecting with the outdoors is great for girls’ health and wellbeing. And it’s a lot of fun!
You can find the full challenges, along with our creative outdoor doodling activity sheet, on the Adventures at home hub:
For Guides and Rangers
The sun is shining (hopefully), the weathers great and you’ve got some free time on your hands. What could make this even better? Taking advantage of this and spending some time outdoors. But what is your outdoors?
Outdoors can be anything, it can be your local park, your garden, a balcony or even a massive window that lets you look outside. Everyone’s outdoor space is different.
Challenge your Guides and Rangers to try something new when they think about going outdoors. From interest badges and picnic breakfasts to DofE and outdoor adventures – we’ve loads of ideas for helping girls connect with the outdoors. And our activity sheets will help them explore the beauty in nature. Check out the full challenges on the Adventures at home hub:
We hope you and the girls enjoy these new challenges! We’ll be releasing a new set for girls to tackle every quarter. In the meantime, you can access all our past Adventures at home challenges on our website, just under these new outdoor challenges.
