Joining us at Wellies? Here’s what you need to know

Wellies and Wristbands is our festival for Guides and The Senior Section, held across two sites on the weekend of 24 August 2018. There will be lots of support for Leaders at the event to make sure everyone has a fantastic time – but before then, here are the key details you need to get your unit ready.

Where is it?

Foxlease, the New Forest

Foxlease is set in 65 acres of beautiful land near Lyndhurst in Hampshire. The full address is:

Girlguiding Foxlease
Clay Hill
Lyndhurst
Hampshire
SO43 7DE

The centre can be reached easily by road, train and by coach. More information can be found on the Foxlease website.

Waddow Hall, Lancashire

Waddow Hall is a 17th-century manor house, based in the Lancashire countryside. The full address is:

Girlguiding Waddow Hall
Waddington Road
Clitheroe
Lancashire
BB7 3LD

It’s easy to get there by car, train or by coach. More information can be found on the Waddow Hall website.

What should I bring?

A full kit list for girls is provided in our 2018 booking pack, to make sure you don’t miss anything.

Wellies and Wristbands is a camping festival – so you will need to bring suitable tents to the event. Subject to availability, Foxlease or Waddow Hall may be able to hire out tents for an additional charge, so please contact the appropriate centre to make arrangements.

What will be provided?

  • Activities – there will be a host of festival entertainment available on each site – including live bands, adventurous activities, relaxation sessions, creative arts and much, much more! Most activities will be run on a drop-in basis, and you will be guaranteed the opportunity to try some adventurous activities during the weekend if you wish.
  • Fun for Leaders - Leaders will be able to take part in all activities with girls, and there will also be some Leader-only activities and time slots too.
  • Food - all main meals will be provided, from Friday dinner to a packed lunch for Monday’s journey home. However, snacks are not included so you might want to bring something extra for in-between meal times.
  • Facilities - the site has shower facilities and toilet blocks, and additional toilets will be provided for the weekend.

Staying together – if you would like to camp closer to other specific units, let us know on your booking form. We’ll do our absolute best to accommodate you where possible.
