Anti-bullying and harassment policy – consultation
Have your say on our anti-bullying and harassment policy. Deadline: 9pm, Sunday 1 August 2021.
We're consulting volunteers on our anti-bullying and harassment policy.
What is the policy?
- Defines bullying and harassment, and explains the roles and responsibilities of our volunteers, members and staff in upholding our inclusive ethos.
- It applies to all Girlguiding settings, including unit meetings, local meetings, events, residential events, camps, workplaces and face-to-face training, as well as digital and online communication.
- It applies in the UK, Crown dependencies and to British Girlguiding Overseas.
What are we asking you about?
We’d like your views on whether the policy could be clearer and whether you understand what is expected of you, or if there are parts that don't make sense, are confusing, or use unnecessary jargon.
We would also like to know whether you have used the policy since we introduced it in November 2020, if there is anything you feel that is missing from the policy that we should include and whether additional guidance would help you follow the policy more easily.
We’d like to find out if you feel if there any barriers to you reporting an incident or concern and whether you feel equipped to recognise an incident of bullying or harassment.
We would also like to know a bit about you – such as what country or region you are from, your main role in guiding, which section you are associated with, or if you are member of Girlguiding staff.
Why are we looking at this now?
As part of our commitment to developing a rewarding volunteer experience we are reviewing all new policies one year after approval to see how they work in practice and if there are improvements that we can make to support you and your unit in following this policy.
We value your feedback and encourage you to share your experiences with us.
How can I participate?
The consultation is open until 9pm on Sunday 1 August 2021 and is open to all volunteers and members of staff in Girlguiding. You will need to refer to the anti-bullying and harassment policy on our website as you complete it.
