About the role

Our outdoor and adventure specialist volunteers will work with the adventure team to improve and grow the adventure offer. This will include developing resources to ensure our whole offer for adventure is suitable for both young members and their leaders. Also, making sure that adventure activities are delivered in a safe and engaging way at all levels of Girlguiding.

What will I be doing?

As part of this role you'll:

  • Promote adventure activities in all levels of Girlguiding.
  • Work as part of the volunteer adventure team in partnership with staff to deliver and support the adventure schemes held across Girlguiding.
  • Be involved in scoping out projects within the areas of outdoors and adventure.
  • Ensure ongoing, effective communication with country and region outdoor activities advisers (or equivalents) and be the main point of contact for adventure enquiries alongside the other adventure specialists.
  • Support the quality delivery of local and accessible outdoor and adventure activity opportunities for girls and young women.
  • Support with creation of leader training and the promotion of the leader adventure badges.
  • Where needed, work with other organisations to ensure Girlguiding policies and procedures are in line with current industry best practices.
  • Engage with Pioneer (the adventure and international youth panel) and ensure that girl voice is heart of everything we do.

Who can apply?

Anyone with a passion for the outdoors and adventure within Girlguiding!

You'll have excellent communication skills and have experience in organising adventure activities in one or more of the adventure themes (height, land, snow, sport, water).

Holding a qualification in one of the Girlguiding schemes is desirable but not essential. 

Experience as a country and region outdoor activities adviser is desirable but not essential. 

How long does the role last?

The role is for 3 years, with the possible extension of up to 2 additional years.
