Everything you need to know about the new badge books

For the launch of our 72 new interest badges

04 June 2025

From Monday 21 July, you’ll be able to buy little badge books with all 72 new interest badges.

You can get the latest updates about our new interest badges here. For more information about new badge books, keep reading.

What’s a badge book?

A Girlguiding badge book is a physical book you can buy from the shop. It lists every badge we have and how to earn them. It’s an important part of girls keeping track of what they’ve done in our programme and what they’d like to do next.

Big versus little badge book

From Monday 21 July, there will be 2 different books for Rainbows, Brownies and Guides:

  1. Big badge books – these are the current books for Rainbows, Brownies and Guides available to buy from our online shop.
  2. Little badge books – these will be smaller versions of the big badge book and only for the new interest badges.

Here’s what to expect from little badge books...

A badge book for Rangers!

Rangers (ages 14-18) currently have a record book for them to keep track of what badges they’ve done. The activities and challenges for their current badges can be found on our badge finder.

As part of our programme review, Rangers told us they’d like to have a physical book. Introducing... our little badge book for Rangers! This is the first Ranger badge book of this programme. You’ll be able to buy it with our other little badge books from Monday 21 July. We can’t wait to hear what you think.

Get ready to track Gold awards

You’ve been asking for it, and we’ve done it! Expect a whole double-page spread for progress tracking towards earning Gold awards.

This aims to help girls, as well as their parents, carers and leaders, understand how close they are to earning their programme awards. Plus, it can be coloured in and personalised to make it their own!

Branding that’s bang up to date

Little badge books, like the new interest badges themselves, are designed in our new brand. That means they’ll look different to our current books and badges. Fresher, bolder and bang up to date.

Over the next year, you can expect our current range of interest badges to be updated with the same design.

Questions you may have

If you’re already a member of Girlguiding with a big badge book, you only need to buy the little badge book.

If you’re a new member of Girlguiding and don’t have any badge books, you can buy both.

Little badge books will cost £4 for Rainbows, £4.25 for Brownies, £4.50 for Guides and £4.25 for Rangers.

No, new badge activities for Rangers won't be online. As part of our programme review, Rangers said they wanted a printed badge book. So we're trialling it with the release of a little badge book just for the new interest badges! We'll be listening to your feedback about what to do next for Rangers.
