FAQs

Cityscapes Adventure is a wide game happening simultaneously in 5 different cities around the UK: Glasgow, Cardiff, Portsmouth, York and Manchester. The event will follow the set-up of a scavenger hunt and will be an urban adventure with something for everyone.

We'll be using Goosechase to host the game, and teams will have a range of activities to complete – some by themselves using the clues in the app and others led by Girlguiding volunteers at bases around the cities.

A live leaderboard will be available for each of the cities to view on the app throughout the day. Which group can gain the most points and be top of the leaderboard by the end of the game?

Cityscapes Adventure will take place on Saturday 21 March and Sunday 22 March 2026 from 10am – 4pm.

Tickets cost £10 per person and tickets will be released on 28 May 2025.

Adult volunteers and young members are charged the same amount. This will cover all activities on the day and, of course, the event badge.

Event entry, a special badge and all missions within Goosechase.

The event cost does not include any food or transport – this includes transport to and from the city as well as travel around the city during the event.

Payment is made online at time of booking. If you have any problems with paying online please contact [email protected].

This event is open to any member of Girlguiding, including Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers, young leaders, and adult members.

Yes, this is a girl event but there's nothing stopping a group of leaders attending.

The route and the activities will remain the same for the members taking part in the event.

No, however it’s our experience that taking part in the game itself is easier in groups of no more than 8 as this makes it easier to move around the city.

If you intend to travel in a larger group, you should be sure you'll have appropriate adult to young member ratios to break into smaller groups for the game.

You'll need to make sure you have the minimum required adults for taking girls outside of the meeting place. This includes someone with up to date first response training, at least 1 adult holding or working towards their leadership qualification, and at least 1 leader, assistant leader or leader in training with up to date safer guiding or safe space level 3.

Any adult with a role that requires it should have a current DBS, AccessNI or PVG. Any parent or adult helpers will not need recruitment checks but must be supervised at all times by someone with a current DBS, AccessNI or PVG and cannot be left on their own with the girls.

You're expected to deal with any first aid issues that your unit may have. In the event of an emergency, you should call 999 and then notify the event organiser.

You'll need to collect consent forms for young members and set up a home contact system. As with any activity outside your normal meeting time and place, you will also need to complete a risk assessment for the day.

Booking travel for your group is your responsibility.

Each of the cities are well served by bus and train, so public transport is a good option.

You can find more information about travelling in and around the different cities:

This is an outdoor event so you'll need to get from base to base which may involve lots of walking. Groups should be prepared to spend a lot of the day walking (or running depending on your competitiveness). You'll be able to tailor your activity to your group's ability.

More details specific to each city will be provided closer to the event so you can plan your day.

You'll need to have at least 1 mobile phone per group with the app installed and an internet connection. It might be a good idea to have a battery to charge your phone if you're using it a lot.

The emergency phone for the group should not be the same phone you're using for the game.

Goosechase is quite easy to use, and you can learn a bit more about it on their website.

Yes! We're looking for volunteers to help run the event. Depending on the city you'd like to volunteer at will depend on who you need to contact:

It’s March in the UK – we could have anything from sunshine to snow! You should be prepared for all eventualities and keep an eye on the weather in the week leading up to the event.
