Introducing our new adventure volunteer badges
Badges to celebrate the amazing people across Girlguiding taking their girls on adventures big and small
We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new set of adventure badges for adult members and helpers!
We know there’s so much adventure happening across Girlguiding. 2 years ago, we launched our adventure badges for girls, and they were incredibly popular.
Following this volunteers said they wanted some for adult members too, and here they are!
The badges

These badges are designed to be given to a volunteer, unit helper or young leader for delivering an adventure with their girls.
They come in the 5 adventures themes – land, water, snow, sport and height – and are a brilliant way to celebrate all the adventures happening across Girlguiding!
The height badge is sponsored by our partners in adventure PGL, who also sponsor the height adventure badge for girls. Find out more about PGL on our partner page.
How to get an adventure volunteer badge
We want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all our volunteers when it comes to delivering adventure. These badges are designed to be given to a volunteer by their girls, parents or a fellow leader in recognition of an adventure or adventures they have made happen.
We know adventure means many different things, it might be something daring like a zip wire day, or gentle like paddling in a local river and finding wildlife. To get your adventure volunteer badge you just need to have helped your girls into spaces where they feel brave, challenged themselves or discovered something new. And have someone celebrate that by buying you a badge!
How to give an adventure volunteer badge
If you want to reward an outstanding volunteer for leading an adventure you can buy a badge to present to them, in whichever theme area they’ve excelled.
And when purchasing the badge you can also download a certificate explaining why you're awarding the badge with a personal message that can be written on it.
These certificates can be downloaded to mark future adventures too, with new messages marking each occasion. So, you can go on celebrating the brilliant work happening in your area.
Then present your badge to the volunteer, unit helper or young leader and let them know how amazing they are!
What girls say about the badges
We asked some of the members of our adventure and international youth panel, Pioneer, why they’re excited to give their leaders and unit helpers adventure badges.
- 'To say thanks for all the behind the scenes work that they put into our activities.’
- ‘To show our appreciation for giving us the opportunity to have adventures.’
- ‘To appreciate all their time and effort.’
- ‘To say thank you for the countless hours of dedication.’
- ‘I'll definitely give my leader a height badge, we do so many activities to do with height on our camps which they're always organising!
- ‘It creates a chance to give feedback on how the adventure was and to thank them for all the work they have put in to help make the activity. And give them something to remember it by.’
‘Leaders deserve more badges and having volunteer badges makes it more of an achievement and more exciting when you do something outside your usual meeting. Leaders work so hard for us.’
