Finding your nearest unit

How to find a local Girlguiding group to volunteer with or register your child to join

To find a group to volunteer with or register a child in your area, you’ll just need to give us a few details to get started.

Units are what we call the groups of girls who meet regularly, led by volunteers, and get stuck into all the things Girlguiding has to offer.

Girlguiding units are all over the UK. Girls meet in lots of different spaces, from village halls in the Highlands to community centres on the coast of Cornwall.

To volunteer with

You can find your nearest unit by entering your postcode and email address via our registration form. A map will show you units in the area. This is the same process whether you want to volunteer directly with girls or support guiding from behind the scenes – find out more about the different ways of volunteering for Girlguiding.

Questions you may have

Why do I need to give my details to find my nearest unit to volunteer?

By sharing your postcode, we're able to show you units closest to you. We use your email address to see whether you're already on our system - if you are, then we'll use the details we have on file to contact you once you've submitted the form and registered your interest.

Do I need to register using my home postcode?

You don’t need to register using your home postcode. Just let us know the postcode of wherever’s most convenient for you to volunteer, for example near work.

How do I find my nearest unit to volunteer at if I’m already a member, or my child is a young member?

If you already have a child in guiding or have volunteered with us in the past, your details will be on our system. To find your nearest unit, you need to log in to your GO account, select the ‘My enquiries’ tab from the drop-down menu under your name, then click ‘Volunteer in a new area’. If you can’t remember your password or haven’t logged into your GO account since April 2024, you’ll need to reset your password first, then follow the steps above to select a unit.

Once I’ve selected a unit on the form, can I change my mind?

Don’t worry, once you’ve selected a unit on the form you can change your mind later on – this is a starting point so you can get in touch with your local team and find the right role for you. One of our helpful volunteers will guide you every step of the way.
