Helping Brownies access fun, free football coaching opportunities

Girlguiding is teaming up with McDonald’s Fun Football to give Brownies the chance to take part in free football coaching sessions.

Research from McDonald’s Fun Football and Girlguiding shows that more than half (52%) of parents believe that gender bias and stereotypes discourage girls from taking part in football coaching sessions, with 30% of parents feeling that cost is a barrier to their child taking part in football sessions. That’s why Girlguiding and McDonald’s Fun Football (a nationwide, grassroots initiative) have teamed up – to help Brownies get active and enjoy football in a fun, pressure-free environment. We know that opportunities to try a new sport can make an incredible difference for girls by helping build their confidence and resilience.

How we’re working together

Starting this summer, Girlguiding members will be able to sign up to free McDonald’s Fun Football sessions. In these sessions, which are available nationwide, FA qualified coaches focus on developing skills like agility, balance, coordination and confidence. Whether you’re looking for an activity for your unit, or are a parent or carer on the hunt for fun activities for your child during the school holidays, it’s free to sign up and take part.

You can sign up on the McDonald's Fun Football website (link opens in a new tab). Make sure to list ‘Girlguiding’ when asked ‘how did you hear about us?’.

McDonald’s Fun Football Festivals

If you’re unable to make it to a session, McDonald’s Fun Football are also hosting festivals throughout the UK this summer. Whether you’re a seasoned football fanatic or just starting out, there's something for everyone, all for free. Find out more (link opens in a new tab).
