The Leslie Sell Charitable Trust
The Leslie Sell Charitable Trust has been supporting Girlguiding with grants since 1969
The continued support from the Leslie Sell Charitable Trust has helped girls to be their best and use their voices on issues they care about.
The Leslie Sell Charitable Trust has funded a number of projects since their support began in 1969. Most recently they’ve been a key supporter of our environmental and sustainability plan.
We know that this is something our members are passionate about. Almost 9 in 10 (87%) of girls agree we all have a responsibility to save energy and reduce waste to protect the environment. Did you know that more than 9 in 10 girls are taking action to do something to tackle environmental issues?
Helping to empower girls to act on issues they care about
Thanks to a generous £50,000 grant in April 2024, The Leslie Sell Charitable Trust has helped us work with young people to co-design our new Eco award.
It’s designed to help our young members to think about being more sustainable, and find daily ways they can help look after their environment. Whether that’s in their home, unit, or a place in their local community. They’ll have fun whilst protecting the planet and earn a special badge and certificate too.
You need to use your power to actually do something. Not just use it for yourself. Use it to help the climate, animals... We need to change the world and we need to do it now.’ - Girl aged 7-10.
About The Leslie Sell Charitable Trust
The Leslie Sell Charitable Trust was set up in May 1969 by the late Leslie Sell to provide financial help to the guiding movement. They’ve supported us for many different projects over the years. They also make small grants to units to help with the costs such as purchasing equipment and going away on trips.
