On the 7 and 8 December, girls had a sea-riously exciting adventure navigating the adventurous waters of Oceania at our Moana 2 screenings.
Thanks to our partners at ODEON and the volunteers who organised trips with their local units, thousands of girls got to watch the film and earn our sparkly Moana 2 badge.

Brownies met the real-life Moana!
Auli’i Carvalho voices the character Moana in both of Disney’s Moana films. Brownies Amy and Luna had the chance to sit down and ask her some questions about role models, home comforts and wayfinding advice.
Anyone can become a wayfinder! My people and the people of the Pacific have been wayfinding and navigating with the stars for generations. So those who are looking to become Moana, this is something you can absolutely do in real life.' - Aurli’i Carvalho.
Our new wayfinder interest badge
We're excited to introduce our new wayfinder interest badge for Brownies. Wayfinder will be 1 of 12 new interest badges launching next year in our have adventures theme.
What’s the wayfinder badge all about?
As part of our have adventures theme, the wayfinder badge is about getting girls outdoors and exploring nature.
What will the challenges be?
They'll become nature detectives and map makers by wayfinding along an unknown journey. Whether it’s on a stream, through a forest or down your local high street, there’s always an adventure to be had! Once girls have practiced their wayfinding skills, they’ll create their own nature scavenger hunt.
What other interest badges are coming in 2025?
We’re currently working with members to create 72 new interest badges for girls across all 4 sections. They’re launching in the summer of 2025. If you’re signed up to our Girlguiding magazine emails, you may have already seen we shared 4 out of 72 new designs. They were:
- Bee rescuer (take action) for Rainbows.
- Celebrations (express myself) for Brownies.
- Thrift (take action) for Guides.
- Nostalgia (express myself) for Rangers.
We have lots more badges to show you – 67 more to be exact! Look out for more exciting updates next year.
