Staff voice and representation
How we bring staff together and promote staff representation
Our staff voice is important to us.
We want our staff to be and feel represented, heard, and influential in shaping decisions.
Staff Consultation Group
The Staff Consultation Group (SCG) is a group of staff who represent their departments in discussions with decision makers about issues that affect the wider workforce.
The group plays an essential role in improving communication between staff and decision makers. They influence organisational decisions, and support the implementation of new ideas and ways of working.
Some areas of influence by our reps include: our hybrid working procedure, salary and benefits review and our staff performance and development review, MyPathways.
Social committee
We recognise how important it is for staff to have opportunities to spend time together outside the formal work setting. So, we’ve created a social committee with representatives from across the organisation who organise informal and social events for staff at all our locations.
Staff networks
Our staff networks are led by staff, for staff. They provide a safe space for staff with shared marginalised identities and lived experiences to come together for mutual support, change, conversation and celebration.
Networks can also promote a better understanding of specific areas of inclusion. They can help make specific experiences more visible in the wider organisation, and encourage all staff to step up as allies. Members of networks can also challenge and be consulted on organisational policies and processes, feeding back concerns and suggesting how they can be improved.
We currently have 8 staff networks:
- Access squad.
- MenoPauseForThought (our menopause network).
- Mental Health.
- Parents network and Parents of SEN children network.
- embRace network (our people of colour network).
- People of faith network.
- Pride network.
