Join the Girlguiding Board of Trustees

We're looking for strategic thinkers with diverse skills to help shape the future of Girlguiding. Apply by 31 August 2026

Girlguiding is the UK’s largest youth organisation dedicated to girls and young women, supporting over 300,000 young members across the UK.

We are now recruiting new Trustees to join our Board at a significant moment for the organisation. As we deliver our strategy Girls can do anything and work to reach more girls from more communities, this is an opportunity to contribute to a well-established and impactful organisation at a time of ambition and change.

The opportunity

Trustees play a vital role in:

  • Shaping the organisation’s strategic direction.
  • Supporting and challenging the Executive.
  • Ensuring effective governance and long-term sustainability.

You will contribute at board level alongside a talented leadership team, helping drive impact, innovation and inclusion in an organisation with a powerful and enduring mission.

Who we’re looking for

We welcome applications from individuals with a strong commitment to Girlguiding’s purpose and values. We are particularly interested in candidates who bring:

  • Board-level experience.
  • Insight into areas such as audit, risk, digital, communications/public affairs, and legal.
  • A passion for empowering girls and young women.
  • Judgement, integrity, and the ability to work collaboratively.

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board and encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds. You do not need to have prior experience of Girlguiding to apply.

Time commitment

The role requires a commitment of approximately 12-18 days per year, depending on the role.

Meetings are usually held during weekdays, with Committee meetings and development sessions in the evenings. Once or twice a year events will be held on a Saturday, and most meetings allow for a mix of in-person and virtual attendance.
