All about Brownies

For girls aged seven to ten - being a Brownie is an adventurous journey that girls take with their friends

My favourite thing is I like being the Sixer and I like making friends, I love everything we do. - Cheyenne, Brownie

Brownies is for all girls aged seven to ten

Girls in Brownies have incredible experiences together, make brilliant friends and discover the world around them. Every time they meet up, groups of Brownies learn new skills and take on challenges as they work out what they want to be and do in the future.

A space to try new things

Brownies is about getting together regularly - often each week - to work on badges, play games and see friends. It's about trying adventurous activities and going along to special events, day trips, sleepovers, camps and holidays.

Brownies go for it!

Girls in Brownies are part of a small group called a Six, lead by a girl called a Sixer. They make their own decisions about what badges and activities to do next. They work together to explore their place within their local community and the world around them.

The Brownie Adventure

Girls follow the Brownie Adventure programme in their regular meetings. They work towards interest badges related to activities and skills such as stargazing or science investigation.

Brownies take part in exciting trips and events locally and with girls across the UK. Girls might enjoy 24 hours of circus-themed fun at our Magic and Mayhem event, spend their first weekend away on pack holiday or try out an adventurous sport with their unit.

Moving on from Brownies

Towards the end of their Brownie days, when they are around ten, girls will learn more about Guides and the exciting things they do. This helps Brownies to find out more about what's in store for them when they move up a section to Guides.
