What do astronauts eat in space?

Have you ever wondered what astronauts eat on their missions?
Thanks to the space interest badge sponsored by our partners, the UK Space Agency, Brownies have been busy curating their own space diets and exploring the unique challenges of eating in zero gravity.
Meals in space are quite different to on earth: astronauts need to eat foods that are nutritious, easy to prepare, store and don’t create crumbs. This is where space food packs come to the rescue!
Guides have also been finding out about astronaut diets with the intergalactic snacks unit meeting activity.
To celebrate Black History Month and World Space Week, 1st Sundon Guides enjoyed a movie night featuring Hidden Figures, learning about the incredible lives of 4 Black women who made history in STEM (science, technology, maths and engineering). And after, they tried their hand at the intergalactic snacks unit meeting activity – crafting their own ‘leak-proof’ space food packages.
