We received an incredible number of applications and applicants should hear whether they've been successful by end of June 2026. Applications to run for Girlguiding in the London Marathon 2028 will open in April 2027.
Take on one of the world’s most iconic races and make every mile matter by running for Girlguiding. Your steps will help girls across the UK grow in confidence, discover their voices, and shape their own future.
Why run the London Marathon for Girlguiding
By taking on the marathon, you’re not just reaching your own goal. You’ll be lifting up thousands of girls and helping them know they can do anything. Together, we can make sure more girls feel supported, empowered and ready to take on their own challenges, just like you’ll be on race day.
Every pound you raise supports programmes that build courage, resilience and vital life skills. From outdoor adventures to STEM activities, you’ll be helping create experiences many girls wouldn’t otherwise have access to. When you run for us, you’re powering the volunteers, resources and opportunities that bring these moments to life.
What you can expect if you run the London Marathon for Girlguiding
We’ll be here to support you all the way. You’ll get:

- Training plans.
- Girlguiding vest.
And personal support from the Girlguiding team and your fellow runners at every step of your marathon journey. We promise it’ll be a memorable experience!
Entry costs and how much you'll need to raise
If you're successful in securing a place on Team Girlguiding for the London Marathon 2027, we'll ask you to pay a £100 registration fee and meet a fundraising target of £2,250. If you're fundraising for Girlguiding but you've secured your own place via the ballot, there's no minimum target.

We'll let you know the outcome of your application just after the London Marathon 2027 ballot places are announced. This is due to happen in early July 2026.
Successful runners are required to fundraise £2,250. The deadline is a month after the London Marathon 2027.
As a charity, we have to buy the marathon places and put a lot of resources into the event. We really need our runners to meet this target to make sure we can continue making a real difference in girls’ lives.
When you join team Girlguiding, we’ll be with you every step of the way. We’ll send you a supporter pack, sports top and some tailored emails to help you reach your target.
