County commissioners' call
Working towards better support of county commissioners in their roles.
In our review of the county commissioners learning journey, you told us that you needed more opportunities to attend ‘drop-in’ discussions with HQ staff and ask questions about key topics.
The county commissioner call was developed following this idea. These regular events will be a space for county commissioners to share their challenges, questions and case studies, and for all of us to work collaboratively to find solutions.
We'll collect challenges in advance, to give an overview of what has been typically asked, and signpost where we have existing resources. Lead volunteers and staff members will also join the sessions to clarify position and policy, and to suggest best practice which may help.
One element of the call will be the opportunity to work together in breakout spaces, and hear from your peers about their challenges and find solutions together.
After the event we'll share notes, a recording, and an evaluation for you to feedback, so we can keep working on and improving the sessions to make sure they're helpful to you.
Who is it for?
Currently these calls are only aimed at county commissioners.
This includes anyone who job shares or supports a county commissioner. For example, roles such as joint county commissioner or assistant county commissioner are welcome to attend.
How do I participate?
This event is free to attend via Zoom. Anyone registered on GO as a county commissioner will receive an invitation in the Discover, grow newsletter.
We'd love you to send in any case studies of challenges you have had that sit under the meeting topic. Even if you've found a way of dealing with them, it might help someone else to hear what happened. Send through all your questions to [email protected].
