Every year, we ask girls and young women across the country about their lives, what matters to them, and the pressures they face.

Our latest Girls’ Attitudes Survey revealed that girls are more likely to experience online harm now than just three years ago. This year, 77% of girls and young women aged 7-21 said they’ve encountered harmful content online, leaving many feeling unsafe.

Girls are calling for change. They want harmful content taken down and for social platforms to take their reports seriously. Recently, our advocates shared our survey findings with MPs at the party conferences and spoke out about the impact of the online world at the End Violence Against Women Coalition’s prevention conference.

Despite the challenges, girls still see the internet as a way to connect and find support.

Having social media lets me reach out to other people, and see videos or posts of other girls talking about similar experiences that I’ve had.' – Young woman aged 17-21.

We’re proud to help support girls in building their online safety skills. So far, girls have spent over 2,200 hours in units learning how to stay safe online through our programme activities.
