Celebrate volunteers you know
Thank volunteers in your child's unit and find out about flexible volunteering opportunities in your area
1-7 June is Volunteers' Week. We're recognising and thanking volunteers who help girls know they can do anything.
Girlguiding is powered by volunteers. Every week, dedicated volunteers give their time to help girls play, learn, grow and have fun. They create activities, organise games and plan adventures that support your child to build friendships and have new experiences.
Don't miss your chance to thank the amazing volunteers who show up week after week. Volunteers' Week is the perfect time to say thank you. And, we've got some fun and practical ideas to help you get started.
- Help your child write a thank-you card. A homemade card is extra special, but if you're strapped for time - we've got some guiding-inspired designs available to order from the Girlguiding shop.
- Download our fun, free topper activity (PDF 34.5 KB). Girls can draw a picture of their Girlguiding volunteers and share why they enjoy guiding. It's something special to gift during Volunteers' Week.
- Have time to go the extra mile? A sweet treat is always a winner. Could you and your child bake something special together to share with volunteers at a unit meeting during Volunteers' Week? Our favourite, easy recipes for every age are bound to delight anyone. Just check any allergies or dietary restrictions ahead of time!
You can also spread the word about the fun your child is having in their unit and the incredible volunteers making it possible on social media. Help us grow guiding and encourage others to get involved by registering their child or volunteering!
And don't forget to share your thank-you with us online. It's a simple way to share the love and spread your recognition further.
Join in The Big Do
Between 5-8 June, people are gathering across the UK for The Big Do - a weekend of friendship, fun, food and action. It's a chance to meet, eat and help-out locally to celebrate your community.
Girlguiding is an official partner of The Big Do - a special collaboration between The Big Lunch and The Big Help Out. It's all about getting involved in your community and celebrating connection with your neighbours. Plus, it's an amazing opportunity to shout about guiding and the amazing experiences girls are having.
There are lots of things you can do over the weekend, whether that's joining a litter pick in the park, gathering with neighbours for a BBQ, or maybe lending a hand with your child's unit if they're planning a summer adventure.
