Hear from chief guide Tracy Foster on what she and the team have been up to this month
I can’t believe it’s July, and we’re in the 7th month of this year!
What I’ve been up to
This summer term and on into August is certainly busy. Recently, I’ve been with over a thousand Trefoil Guild members as they came together for their annual review in Portsmouth. There are so many similarities between us, with opportunities for adventure, challenging ourselves to gain awards and of course the fun and friendship both of us offer. If you haven’t already, do reach out to your local Trefoil group. They’re only too happy to support local areas where they can. And lots of you are already in contact with them or Trefoil members yourselves, which is fantastic.
Looking forward at our strategy
As an organisation we’re currently looking at our strategy, today, tomorrow, together, and we want to make sure this is still fit for the future. We launched the strategy just as the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. And now is the right time to review where we are and where we want to be. We’ve looked at lots of insights about our wonderful organisation, the impact we’ve had and what makes us unique.
I’m so grateful for the time that council and chief commissioners have spent helping us look at 2025 and beyond. And it's been wonderful to see our Amplify young members and advocates engaging with senior volunteers and senior leadership teams on our vision for the future. When I reflect and consider everything we achieve, it’s truly amazing that, powered by volunteers, we can offer so much. Thanks to all of you!
Adventures are everywhere in guiding
Over the past month, I’ve been lucky to meet so many of our members, girls, young women and adults. I’m always so inspired. I’ve seen confident Rainbows take part in a local guiding show, Guides on an international selection weekend and a county on camp. This is what we do. We offer our girls and young women opportunities with such varied experiences, which really do create special memories. We help them experience challenges and grow in confidence. And as summer goes on, I’ve got plenty more adventures to look forward to!
