An update about Ynysgain

We’re pleased to share an update about Ynysgain, one of the properties that was owned by Girlguiding and used as a campsite and activity centre.
Ynysgain is a 19th century house on the coast in North Wales.
Following a carefully considered sales process, Ynysgain will have new owners. The new owners are local to the area, have lived in Criccieth for some time, and are Welsh speakers. They plan to use Ynysgain as a private residence.
Throughout the process of selling our properties, we have worked hard and with care to act in the best interests of Girlguiding, all our members across the UK, and in accordance with charity law.
Denise Wilson, Chair of Girlguiding’s Board of Trustees, and Tracy Foster, Chief Guide and Trustee, said: 'We have been thoughtful in our approach to the sale of Ynysgain. We are pleased that the property will remain in the hands of people who are local to the area and value its place within the community, while enabling us to continue to invest in adventures for girls across the UK.'
With this sale complete, the process of selling Girlguiding’s 5 owned activity centres has now concluded, and the other sites sold are already offering new opportunities for girls and groups to access adventure. The money from the sale of the activity centres is in a designated fund that will honour the legacy of the properties and enable us to invest in the future of Girlguiding.
Our new fund is here to support girls by providing grants and better experiences. It is investing in adventure so girls can try new things and build their confidence. It is supporting our future by improving our digital tools and making our archive accessible to all.
Diweddariad ar Ynysgain
Rydym ni’n falch o allu rhannu’r newyddion diweddaraf am Ynysgain, adeilad oedd yn eiddo i Girlguiding ac yn cael ei ddefnyddio fel safle gwersylla a chanolfan weithgareddau. Mae Ynysgain yn dŷ o’r 19eg ganrif ar yr arfordir yng Ngogledd Cymru.
Yn dilyn proses werthu a ystyriwyd yn ofalus, mae gan Ynysgain berchnogion newydd. Mae’r perchnogion newydd yn siaradwyr Cymraeg lleol sydd wedi byw yng Nghricieth ers peth amser. Maen nhw’n bwriadu defnyddio Ynysgain fel preswylfa breifat.
Drwy gydol y broses o werthu ein heiddo, rydym ni wedi gweithio’n galed ac yn ofalus i sicrhau ein bod yn gweithredu er budd gorau Girlguiding a’n haelodau ledled y DU, gan gydymffurfio â chyfraith elusennau.
Dywedodd Denise Wilson, Cadeirydd Bwrdd Ymddiriedolwyr Girlguiding, a Tracy Foster, Prif Geid ac Ymddiriedolwr: “Rydym ni wedi bod yn ystyriol wrth fynd ati i werthu Ynysgain. Rydym ni’n falch iawn y bydd yr eiddo yn aros yn nwylo pobl leol sy’n gwerthfawrogi ei le yn y gymuned. Bydd y gwerthiant yn ein galluogi i barhau i fuddsoddi mewn anturiaethau i ferched ledled y DU.'
Mae’r gwerthiant hwn wedi’i gwblhau, sy’n golygu bod y broses o werthu 5 o ganolfannau gweithgareddau Girlguiding bellach wedi dod i ben, ac mae’r safleoedd eraill sydd wedi’u gwerthu eisoes yn ein galluogi i roi cyfleoedd newydd i ferched ac i grwpiau gael cymryd rhan mewn antur. Mae’r arian a ddaeth o werthu’r canolfannau gweithgareddau yn cael ei gadw mewn cronfa ddynodedig a fydd yn anrhydeddu cenhadaeth yr eiddo a werthwyd, ac yn ein galluogi ni i fuddsoddi yn nyfodol Girlguiding. Mae ein cronfa newydd yma i gefnogi merched drwy ddarparu grantiau a phrofiadau gwell. Mae’n ein galluogi i fuddsoddi mewn rhoi antur er mwyn i ferched allu rhoi cynnig ar bethau newydd a magu hyder. Ac mae’n ein helpu i gefnogi ein dyfodol drwy wella ein hoffer digidol a gwneud ein harchif yn hygyrch i bawb.
