Girlguiding statement on updated RSHE guidance

15 July 2025

At Girlguiding, we welcome the updated RSHE guidance released today by the Department for Education.

Through our research and campaigning work, we’ve long highlighted that girls are in crisis with the pressures and experiences of sexism, misogyny and safety both on and offline reported by girls as young as seven.

Our crucial work was submitted as part of the consultation and was referenced in today’s response. This marks an important first step in our collective influence to help tackle these issues girls are facing.

Although this is a positive move, it’s integral that school leaders and politicians listen to girls about the realities of their experiences of sexism and misogyny. Girls' voices need to be heard when building lesson plans and curriculums for its implementation in September 2026.
