Angela Salt OBE makes Power List by Northern Power Women
22 January 2020
Northern Power Women have recognised Angela Salt OBE, Girlguiding CEO, on their list of women who have made a difference in their communities and organisations - as well as raise awareness of gender equality across the North of England.
50 women role models, including Angela, have been added to the 2020 Northern Power List. The list specifically celebrates women who challenge the norm and use their influence and power for good.
Angela said,
I’m really proud to be named on the Northern Power Women’s Power List this year and would like to dedicate this recognition to all of our volunteers in the north. As CEO of Girlguiding I’m honoured to work alongside over 100,000 volunteers. Together we make the magic of guiding happen for so many girls and young women across the UK. I feel privileged to be alongside so many women - both on this list and day to day - who are using their power and influence for good.
Angela joined Girlguiding as Chief Executive in January last year. It was an exciting time – just as we were preparing to launch our largest ever consultation of girls and young women, Future Girl, and laying groundwork for our 2020+ strategy. It was our mission that first inspired Angela to join Girlguiding and this continues to motivate her each day.
Northern Power Women is the countries largest awards championing gender equality, flying the flag for gender diversity in the North of England and celebrating role models year-round.
Simone Roche MBE, founder and CEO of Northern Power Women, said that this year they have seen an impressive 75% increase in the number of nominees for both the Power List and Future List.
Once again this year I have been absolutely amazed at the outstanding number and quality of nominations we’ve received and it has been hugely impressive to see the range of organisations represented – from defence, media, rail and tech to influential academics and entrepreneurs..
I’ve always known there were incredible role models in and from the North, but after receiving almost 1500 nominations, I have to say that even I was astounded. Our incredible category panels made up of 65 judges had a difficult – but inspiring – time identifying the shortlisted nominees, said Simone
