Join Girlguiding

We offer a relaxed, encouraging space for girls to come together, have fun and grow their skills.

To start your daughter’s Girlguiding journey, enter a few quick details to select your preferred group based on where and when they meet. We'll put you in touch with a friendly volunteer from your local group to get you started.

Girls in Girlguiding are on average 30% more confident than UK girls, and 3 times more likely to have done something good for their community or environment.

We’ve just launched our new uniform, designed with girls and inspired by the many ways they express themselves. It’s made to help every girl feel like she belongs while standing out in her own way.

What girls do in Girlguiding

Girls in guiding are encouraged to take the lead and share their interests, so what each group gets up to will look a little different. One week girls might be making underwater fireworks, next they're heading on their first ever sleepover.

Whatever girls get up to, whether it’s part of our core programme of badges and activities or something they've come up with themselves, all activities are led by trained volunteers and in line with our 5 essentials and educational framework. 

School is really different and they don’t teach you all the things that you get taught at Rainbows and Brownies.'

How we keep your child safe

We take safeguarding seriously – because we know that when girls feel safe, they push themselves to do incredible things.

• We carry out compulsory recruitment checks, including a criminal record check and 2 personal references, for any adult volunteers working with girls.
• All volunteers are trained to deliver safe activities and follow our code of conduct. Our national safeguarding team works with volunteers to ensure they’re following our safeguarding policy and procedures.

What to expect after registering

1. We’ll put you in touch with one of the volunteers who run the weekly meetings – they’ll reach out as soon as they can, but this can take around 3 weeks or longer during busy periods.
2. If you still haven’t heard back after 3-4 weeks, you can log into GO and follow up your enquiry, or email [email protected].
3. Your local volunteer will be able to share more information on costs and what’s coming up. Because every group is different, we can’t tell you exactly what it will cost – but for most this works out to a few pounds a week.

I think it’s really good for her socially to be mixing in different groups and meeting people from different schools and people in her local area that she’s not going to come across necessarily just through school.'

Our uniform for girls

Our new uniform is shaped by girls to reflect how they want to feel – comfortable and confident. It gives girls a sense of belonging and sisterhood along with the flexibility to style and wear it their way, with their own clothes.

We’ve worked hard to make it affordable – although you’ll find a vast range of items for each age group on our website, all girls need to be in uniform is a top. And, although we’re a uniformed organisation, it’s not mandatory for members to buy uniform. Most members choose to wear it, but your local volunteer can work with you to make sure you have access to an option that works for you.
