Support for welcoming Ukrainian girls to your unit

Ensure that Ukrainian girls arriving in the UK can join Girlguiding - and that they’re given a warm welcome into the community.

We’ve received a grant from WAGGGS in response to the emergency crisis caused by war in Ukraine. The grant will help to leaders give girls and their families a warm welcome into the community by providing key Girlguiding documents in their home language. We’re also giving £100 grants to help support Ukrainian girls and volunteers.

Applying for the £100 grant

Any unit that has girls or volunteers that want to join Girlguiding who have come from Ukraine and are directly affected by the war can apply for the grant. Where there are multiple individuals eligible for the grant a unit can submit one application form for the group, as long as they list all the . The unit will receive £100 per member.

Spending the grant

The grant should be spent on resources and equipment that girls and volunteers need to begin their Girlguiding journey. This could include:

  • Uniform for girls and volunteers
  • Expenses for volunteers so they can attend training
  • Girl and volunteer membership fees for one year
  • Welcome badges and packs
  • Record books

You’ll be asked in your application what you plan to use the money for.

Receiving the grant

The grant will be paid to the unit the girls or volunteers are joining. In the application you will be asked for the unit bank details so we can send you the grant.

Fill out the application form with all the information you can. We might get in touch to ask questions about your application if we need to. We'll be giving out the grants on a first-come-first-served basis to everyone who is eligible.
