Residential events for 18-30-year-olds

We’ve introduced a new pilot residential procedure for 18-30-year-olds.

You told us that some of your best experiences with Girlguiding were residential ones – whether they were amazing international trips or small get-aways to the county campsite, residential events are an important part of what’s on offer for 18-30-year-olds in Girlguiding.

You also told us that sometimes you’re not sure what the procedure is for organising a residential event, or what documentation you need to complete, so we’re piloting a procedure to help you plan safe, high quality events.

Organising overnight trips

To organise an 18-30 residential event, you need to follow the procedure laid out in the 18-30 residential event procedure form. This includes information on when the procedure applies, guidance for planning your event and a form to send to your commissioner to notify them about the event. This type of residential is eligible for Queen’s Guide Award Outdoor Challenge.

Organisations connected to Girlguiding, such as SSAGO and the Trefoil Guild, do not need to follow this procedure when organising events for their own members.
