Learning and awards
Structured courses and awards for women aged 18 to 30
Show what you can do by completing a course or award through Girlguiding
Every opportunity included in our offer for young women is a chance to develop your skills. But you might decide to challenge yourself by working towards a structured course, qualification or award too. This is a great way to expand your horizons, build your CV and show the world just how much girls and young women are capable of.
Queen’s Guide award
Age: The Queen's Guide award must be completed within three years from the start date or before your 26th birthday, whichever is sooner.
This is the highest award you can work towards in Girlguiding. It gives you the chance to develop your skills, whilst contributing to guiding and your local community at an impressive level. As well as service in guiding and community action, you also take on an outdoor challenge, and spend two nights away from home with new people.
Achieve the Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Awards
Age: Complete any of the three levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) before your 25th birthday to achieve the awards.
Take part in an internationally recognised challenge covering volunteering, physical activity, skills-development, an expedition and at Gold level, a residential.
I learnt how to communicate within a team, took on leadership roles and navigated wild terrain – skills that I can adapt for any aspect of life. The sense of accomplishment and confidence I gained also made every step worth it. - Annabel, 19, Gold Duke of Edinburgh participant
Age: Under 25s
Explore the rich history of guiding, learn about countries and cultures in the Commonwealth, and take part in community action. Could this be the springboard for you to take up an international opportunity?
