Adventure and challenge
Outdoor and adventurous activities for women aged 18 to 30
Your space to have adventures and explore new horizons
There are so many different ways to challenge yourself and experience the outdoors on this pathway for Girlguiding members aged 18 to 30. Some of the opportunities are a chance to develop your skills by working towards a formal qualification. But there’s plenty you can do that's just for fun too.
What you can do
Have adventures at a Girlguiding Activity CentreAge: 18+
Our Activity Centres are the place to go for adventurous activities. You can challenge yourself to a high ropes course, turn your hand to archery or give paddle boarding a go - and try everything in between! Why not book a visit for you and your friends or unit?
Support girls and young women to gain a Duke of Edinburgh's Award
Use your skills to help others access adventure as a Duke of Edinburgh leader. You could lead an expedition or help with planning so girls and young women can reach their goals.
Going away with scheme
Trips away are one of the highlights of guiding for many girls. If you're already a qualified and active unit leader, learn how to plan a residential and ensure the safety of girls away from home.
Walking with girls is an adventure: a chance to discover the natural world, exercise and spend time together. You only need a First Response or other first aid qualification to develop your skills to lead fun walking expeditions that will build girls' and young women's confidence, as well as giving them time out in the open air to think and recharge.
Climbing and abseiling scheme
If you've got some climbing experience and a first aid qualification, train to give girls a first taste of the thrill of climbing and abseiling.
Taking girls out on narrowboats, provides a great opportunity for them to do something new, challenging and fun. Narrowboating sessions must be led by a qualified skipper - and this Scheme teaches you all you need to know so you can take girls on watery adventures! You will need a first aid qualification to train.
Canoeing and Kayaking training
Canoeing and kayaking are exciting ways for girls to challenge themselves and have fun on the water. And through British Canoing (BCU) courses, you can instruct and supervise Girlguiding members yourself!
Plan your own outdoor adventure
Whether you’re leading a group of younger girls or just looking to have fun and challenge yourself with like-minded peers, Girlguiding’s activity finder is full of ideas and inspiration for outdoor activities.
