I'm learning skills to take action on important issues
Ellie, Action for Change participant and Guide Leader, joined Action for Change to make change in her own way
Action for Change gives you the chance to take action on issues you're passionate about.
Ellie stepped outside her comfort zone when she joined Action for Change and she loves the new challenge
‘I’ve been with the same unit since I was five, and I’ve grown up with all the girls. Some of the same Leaders are also still a part of it! Because we’re so close, I feel more at ease trying new experiences or activities with them.
I chose to do Action for Change to challenge myself.
‘I especially liked the fact that Action for Change gives you the chance to take action on issues you’re passionate about and lets you actively champion your views across your region or country. The programme starts with a free weekend residential. and I feel like this really helped me to learn the skills I needed to make a change in my own way.
'During the residential, we were sorted into our different project groups, and I surprised myself as I really enjoyed it – even though I didn’t really know the other girls.
I chose to champion the issues surrounding disabilities.
'Working with others at Action for Change – who were as passionate as I was about the same topic – gave me faith in myself to step outside my comfort zone.’
