I went away to Guide camp with my daughter

Parent Lynne-Marie got involved with her daughter Trinity's Guide camp - and loved it!

I loved seeing Trinity mixing with girls her own age, being outdoorsy and doing things off her own bat.

Going on a mother-and-daughter camp with my daughter Trinity got me back into guiding. I loved seeing Trinity mixing with girls her own age, being outdoorsy and doing things off her own bat.

My highlight was getting together with Trinity at the end of each day when we were brushing our teeth. We'd walk through the woods together with our torches and have a little catch-up.

During the day we were in teams and collected points for camping tasks, such as making a campfire and cooking a meal on it. Trinity's team managed to win the most points!

I loved the trip. The biggest shock for me was putting up a canvas tent - it's been a long time since I did that.

What Trinity says about the camp

Trinity added, 'I liked how mums were involved in the camp, rather than just watching. I enjoyed showing them our skills - and being the ones who knew best how to do things! I was really proud of mum. She was really good at some of the tasks and I think she'd make a really good Leader!

Get involved

There's loads of opportunities for parents to get involved with guiding - from going on camps like Lynne-Marie or helping out with transport.
