Dear Prime Minister,

We're writing to ask you to urgently hold a children and young people’s press conference on Covid-19.

We’re members of the Girlguiding Advocate panel. We speak out on issues that matter and that we care about.

We know that young people and children are worried about what the Covid-19 crisis means for our futures, our friends and our families. And we want to help make sure all children and young people have a chance to be heard by the people in charge at this really difficult time.

Schools are closed and our exams are cancelled. We don’t know if we can go to university this year. We can’t see our friends. Children can’t go out to play. We are all confused and some of us feel scared.

The Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg, recently held a press conference for children, to answer questions about Covid-19. Will you do the same?

We want you to listen to our concerns, and for you to help us to understand your decisions. And we want to know from you what children and young people can do to play our part at this time of national need.

Girlguiding is the UK’s leading charity for girls and young women. We have a rich history of contributing to society. We make a difference in our communities. We want to know what we can do now - and we want you to listen to us and to advise us too.

Girlguiding is supporting girls, children and young people by sharing information about staying safe, providing fun activities, and sharing stories and inspiring ideas about how we can help each other out.

We want you to do the same for us, beginning with the press conference for girls and all children and young people.

We would love to help your team to coordinate the press conference.

Yours Sincerely,

Abi (17), Alice (14), Amanda (15), Caitlyn (19), Ellie (16), Emily (17), Emma (18), Francoise (19), Henrietta (14), Isla (19), Kate (21), Kate (18), Lauren (18), Maddie (20), Madison (24), Phoebe (19), Pippa (19) and Ruyuan (14)
