Where could Camp CEO take you?
Camp CEO is all about giving young women the chance to succeed in their careers. We caught up with the class of 2016 about what the experience has done for them.
Our research shows only 35% of 17 to 21-year-olds feel men and women have the same chance of succeeding in their jobs. We think it’s time to change that.
Camp CEO is back from 22-26 July, giving young women the chance to take part in skills workshops, adventure activities and mentoring that will get them thinking about their careers. And give them the confidence to succeed. To top it all off, every young woman will have the opportunity to be mentored by an inspiring female CEO.
"It really motivates you to carry on succeeding"
Applications are now open for Girlguiding members aged 14 to 17. But we know that applying for something like this can seem quite daunting. Maybe you think you haven’t got enough experience, or aren’t sure if it’s for you? We think the best people to answer your questions are the young women who’ve taken part in Camp CEO previously. So we caught up with some former attendees to find out what they got out of the experience.
Since Camp CEO, I’ve been to Switzerland with my Guide group and on an international camp in Canada. The one-to-one mentoring with a female CEO was really inspiring and helpful in techniques for the workplace and confidence. I’d tell anyone thinking of applying to go for any opportunity you can! Never say no. Even if you’re scared or unsure, just go for it! - Olivia Grace Cox
I’m at university now, and I’ve used the practical skills I learnt at Camp CEO in things like applying for jobs and public speaking. I’ve also become more confident and willing to give things a go. I loved the outdoor activities when I was there, particularly water-skiing and banana boating! It really is a unique and amazing opportunity! - Beth Anderson
Being one of the youngest attendees I was only just approaching my GCSEs when I was at Camp CEO. So since then I’ve been quite busy studying for my exams! I was Head Girl a year after Camp CEO, and there’s no doubt I had the confidence to do that because of the experience. At the moment I’m in the process of applying to university, and studying for more exams! - Hannah Bascal
Since Camp CEO, I’ve finished Sixth Form College, taken a year out to do a marketing internship at a theatre, and now I’m studying Geography at university. Camp CEO encouraged me to sign up for loads more stuff, put myself out there and do new things – it was one of the best guiding experiences I’ve had. Being able to talk to all the CEOs and get to know the other participants was fab! Just give it a go, you’ll develop so much and it really motivates you to carry on succeeding. - Alice Raven
