To succeed in sport requires more than just talent. It requires dedication, perseverance and determination.

But it can be easy to overlook the more fundamental factors, like a good diet and healthy lifestyle.

Well not to worry – we’ve made it our mission to help raise awareness about healthy living!

To celebrate Women in Sport Week 2017, we partnered with Tesco to bring you some ideal activities to help raise awareness among girls about how what they eat affects the way they live.

What is Food for Fuel?

Food for Fuel is part of The Tesco Eat Happy Project and can help to educate girls about food in sport, as well as lifestyle choices athletes make to ensure they’re performing at their best. There are plenty of activities to get stuck into, with the aim of teaching girls about the food they should eat to give them energy for sports and games.

Our top 5 activities from the Tesco Eat Happy Project

To make it extra easy to decide what to do, we’ve picked our Top Five activities from the programme, perfect for Brownies and Rainbows.

Star Recipe

Tesco have also developed some brilliant healthy recipes, and several that we think would be fun to try out in your Units!

Our star recipe is the Fruit Smoothie Recipe. It’s delicious, healthy and really easy to do! All you need is some yogurt, milk, fruit, a blender and some cups.

Take it to the next level

Why stop at the activities?

Tesco offer a free Food for Fuel Trail in their stores. The girls get a hands-on,  interactive experience learning about many different aspects of sport and food, such as exploring the importance of keeping hydrated whilst creating their own fruit-flavoured water. Find out more about the trails.

There’s also a trail pack to help you and your girls carry on learning about Food for Fuel once you get back to your meeting place.
