Evelyn has a strong vision and the skills and experience to bring everyone along on the journey
WAGGGS is the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, made up of five regions.
The Europe Region supports 64 national Girl Guide and Girl Scout organisations in 41 countries and reaches more than 1.2 million young people. The Europe Committee governs the region and is responsible for the strategy, finances and delivering a business plan to support member organisations.
Europe is a vibrant Region full of diversity, challenges and opportunities. Our candidate for the WAGGGS Europe Committee, Evelyn Dick, has a unique combination of strengths that would support the Region.
Evelyn’s vision for WAGGGS Europe
'I want to strengthen the collective work of the Region and build relationships with all the Regional MOs to support the regional delivery of the WAGGGS Global Strategy. In coming together, we can give all our members the opportunity to stretch themselves in a safe environment and feel confident to speak out about the issues that matter to them.
My vision for WAGGGS Europe is of an agile movement, responding to events and capacity planning. We need to look at how we truly become sustainable, and this means working together to harness capacity, volunteer’s time and providing value to our MOs through their voluntary contribution.
Everyone will go at different speeds, but we’ve got a common goal. We’re going on a journey together.'
Get to know Evelyn
Evelyn has been in guiding since she was a Brownie. Now with grown-up children of her own, Evelyn has dedicated years as a volunteer to Girlguiding Scotland, Girlguiding UK and WAGGGS Europe. She is driven by helping girls and young women to realise their potential and stretch themselves safely.
Her achievements in her volunteer roles include leading the roll out of a new membership system across Girlguiding UK, listening and responding to the concerns of volunteers. She enjoys working with intergenerational teams, listening, learning and facilitating.
She has had a long career working in change and innovation, risk and governance, and is passionate about bringing people together.
