Celebrate with these autumn food festivals
From Harvest to Diwali, food plays a big part in autumn celebrations. Along with our partner Tesco, we have lots of ways for you to get your girls involved
While the darker evenings and colder nights may not be everyone’s favourite thing about this time of year, the autumn does bring a (bonfire) heap of reasons to celebrate different cultures and their food.
We’ve partnered with Tesco to bring you some activities you can do in the unit place – or your local Tesco store – to raise your group’s understanding of different celebration foods and the traditions behind them.
Known as the ‘Festival of light’, the Hindu celebration of Diwali takes place on 19 October and Tesco’s in-store trail sees girls learning about the legend behind the festival and how to make raita.
There are also some great activities you can do to help your girls learn about different spices, like this ‘spice wheel’ that Rainbows can make.
Book your trail
Tesco offer a range of free seasonal trails as part of their Eat Happy Project. The girls get a hands-on, interactive experience learning about many different aspects of cultural festivals and food.
