Bad weather doesn’t mean you can’t have fun! Here are some ideas to keep everyone occupied when the weather is bad.

Board games

Who doesn’t like a game of Monopoly?! Take a look in your local charity shops for some second-hand classic board games and get everyone playing.

Build a fort

An oldie, but a goodie. All you need is a few sheets, some cushions and some chairs and you can build a fun fort that can keep kids occupied for hours.

Movies

Create a home cinema experience by making some popcorn and turning out the lights. You can even create tickets for the show and watch movie trailers on YouTube before for an extra authentic experience!

Learn to code

It doesn’t need to be daunting or cost money to learn to code. Code Monster is a great free online tool to help kids learn to code – and even adults could learn a thing or two as well! And Rangers who enjoy code could work towards their Digital design badge.

Science experiments

If you’re prepared to get messy but have a lot of fun, you could try some cheap and easy home science experiments

Museums and galleries

Rain doesn’t mean you have to stay at home. There are plenty of free museums and galleries all across the country.

Brilliant badges

With our huge selection of interest badges, you're sure to find something you can do and stay dry. Grab a badge book and try something new. Younger girls can make a start on their Drawing or Mindfulness badge, Guides could get inspired to do some Craftivism and Rangers can learn about Genealogy.

And remember, you can always just put on some wellies and head outside for some fun in the rain. As the Swedish saying goes “there's no bad weather, only bad clothes.”
