Skiing, snowboarding, sledging, tobogganing - there are so many exciting ways to enjoy the snow.

Overview

Snowsports include all activities where girls slide across snow or simulated snow.

To take part in snowsports with girls, you will need to find a reputable local provider with qualified instructors.

Instructor qualifications

Instructors must hold the qualification appropriate to the activity and venue/terrain according to the British Association of Snowsport Instructors (BASI).

Safety regulations

  • Skiing and snowboarding must take place on recognised pistes, dry ski slopes or prepared tracks.
  • For off-piste activities (such as sledging) the leader of the party must have appropriate experience, enabling them to be confident that the terrain is suitable and safe.
  • It is good practice to use helmets for snowsports (and is mandatory in some countries).
  • Seek local advice on the terrain and liaise with an Outdoor Activities Adviser.
  • Be aware of land designated for wildlife and other environmental interests and avoid these areas where possible.
