Future Girl is all about incredible ideas that can change the world.
We want to give our young members the chance to share their ideas, think of ways to improve the world around them and tell us about the issues they really care about. All while earning a special new badge.
And we need your help to do this, so we’ve launched new, limited-time unit activities for all our sections.
It’s really easy to get involved - use these in your meetings to get your members sharing their thoughts in fun and creative ways. Girls can imagine they’ve time-travelled to the future, use emojis to share their feelings about the world, or get writing their own manifesto.
As leaders, you’re already experts in talking to girls and getting them involved. With Future Girl you’ll help your members get their voices heard and play a part in our work to drive positive change for girls and young women.
Looking to the future
Future Girl will give every Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Senior Section member the chance to tell Girlguiding what matters to them, so that Girlguiding can tell the world. Where else will they get an opportunity like that? - Juliet Dowley, Advocate and leader
We're aiming to gather the thoughts and opinions of up to 10,000 young members from all Girlguiding sections across the UK. We want to hear from them about the issues they face today and how we can help change their lives for the better.
This project will help us continue to develop our understanding of the ever-changing lives of girls and young women. We will use the findings of this consultation with girls as the foundation for a new girl-led mandate for our advocacy work – informing calls we make to government, industry and civil society, and to make sure we are providing girls with what they need to thrive.
This is your members’ opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings on what matters most to them and be part of something inspiring and impactful.
Future Girl is such an exciting and unique opportunity to hear from girls across our membership about what’s important to them so we can make sure they have the opportunities they need to thrive – both now and in the future. As leaders we play a critical role in making sure all girls’ voices are heard in this consultation and I encourage you all to get involved to make sure girls and young women in your unit help to shape our work for positive change. - Amanda Medler, Chief Guide
As leaders, you’re in the perfect place to help girls feel inspired and share their views. We couldn’t do this without you.
How do I get involved?
1 - Download the activity pack
Our specially made activities packs have been designed to be easy to run, age-appropriate and loads of fun. Download the pack for your unit here:
2 - Get your girls involved
Plan the activity into your unit meetings and start coming up with amazing ideas. Each pack tells you exactly what you need to run the activity. As we need you to keep track of what your unit comes up with, the pack includes space for you to take notes.
3 - Fill out the survey and get your badges
These surveys are your chance to tell us what the members of your units said during the session. They don’t take long to complete. Sharing your views with us means your unit can influence Girlguiding at a national level.
Senior Section members can also fill out their own survey individually.
Future Girl is a limited-time activity and badge. Surveys must be completed by15 July 2018 to receive your badges.
