Promise enlightenment

This is a creative way to help Brownies appreciate the full meaning of the Promise.

Overview

  1. Roll a piece of silver card into a cone shape and fasten with sticky tape.
  2. Cut out four large flame shapes from the orange card.
  3. Three of these flames represent the three parts of the Promise and the other one is for the first line of the Promise. Write the parts of the Promise on the flames, or draw pictures to represent them.
  4. When sticking a flame on the torch, ask the girls to discuss the part of the Promise it stands for, for example: ‘I promise’ (talk about what a Promise is and what it means to make one); ‘That I will do my best’ (discuss how girls can do their best in their daily lives). Do this for all parts of the Promise so the girls deepen their understanding of it.
