Safety notes

Girlguiding insurance does not cover members to undertake aviation activities. You will need to check that the activity provider has adequate insurance cover. Please contact Girlguiding insurers AON for more details.

Check safety regulations below for more guidance on parachuting.

The instructor must hold a BPA qualification.

The instructor should brief participants on:

  • the use of safety and other equipment
  • the purpose of the flight
  • sensations likely to be experienced when parachuting.

Parachuting must be undertaken using the standards and controls laid down by the British Parachute Association (BPA) and must take place at a BPA-approved site.

Parachuting is often undertaken through other charitable organisations as a way of fundraising. In this situation it is still your responsibility to ensure that the activity provider is reputable and operates the activity safely.

Adult to child ratios are not applicable as parachuting is only open to Senior Section and adult members.
