Make seed markers
Keep track of what you've planted
Never lose track of seeds again with these easy markers.
- Find smooth, flat stones – beaches are good places to look, or you could scavenge for old pieces of patio paving stones. Alternatively, you could use old lollipop sticks or craft sticks.
- Paint the name, or a picture, of your plant in bright colours on the stone/stick with waterproof pens/paints, and leave to dry.
If you can’t find waterproof paints, mix acrylic/poster paint with some PVA glue (one dollop of glue to two dollops of paint) or add a layer of varnish afterwards.
If an activity involves touching animals, soil or plant matter, make sure girls wash their hands immediately.
When doing arts and crafts activities, supervise girls closely to make sure they are using scissors, glue and other items safely.
