Find out what events and activities your country, region or local activity centre is hosting for World Thinking Day 2023.
North East England
North East England are using one of the region's most iconic buildings, York Minster, to celebrate.
Members from all sections, all ages and all roles will be celebrating guiding around the world, taking inspiration from the WAGGGS theme 'Our World, Our Peaceful Future'
This will be a celebratory gathering, with singing and story telling. The audience will be participating as much as possible. Find out about North East England's celebrations on their website.
LaSER
LaSER will be doing a social media campaign every day in February highlighting #guidingfriendship. This will include a post around world friendship too. Find out more about LaSER's plans on their website.
South West England
South West England will be 'Making Our Way Around the World', taking part in activities based around the WAGGGS regions. These will encourage members in all sections to think about different modes of transport in different parts of the world. Extra videos will be available with women involved in transport giving insights into what they do, how they do it and what inspired them. Cymru
Girlguiding Cymru will be having a virtual thinking day event on the 18 February 2023 held via social media and YouTube.
They will be sharing a pack with printable PDF documents to allow leaders to share them with families to take part in the virtual event. Find out more about what Cymru is doing on their website.
British Girlguiding Overseas (BGO)
BGO units are always encouraged to pair up for World Thinking Day to play games, have conversations, do activities and make new friends. But this year BGO are also hosting a regional virtual event just before World Thinking Day on 11 and 12 February. It takes place over 2 days to try and cover all the different time zones that we operate in and it is called Awake 23.
Events at activity centres
Five of our activity centres are holding events for World Thinking Day.
Blackland Farm
On 18 February, from 10am to 4pm, get involved in activities around the 2023 theme, including environmental challenges alongside our on site adventurous activities. This event is for all members and costs £25 per person with refreshments provided. If you're a leader, it costs £5, and one leader goes free per ratio Book tickets to the Blackland Farm event.
Foxlease
On 19 February, from 10am to 4pm, become a planet protector by completing the WAGGGS’ World Thinking Day resource. And visitors can also tour the house and have a go at an adventurous activity. This event is for all members, costs £23 per person and refreshments are provided. Book tickets to the Foxlease event.
Glenbrook
On 18 February, from 10am to 4pm, get involved in activities around the 2023 theme including environmental challenges alongside some onsite adventurous activities. This event is for all members, costs £15.50 per person and refreshments are provided. Book tickets to the Glenbrook event.
ICANDO
On 18 February, from 10am to 1pm, young members can have a go at the environmental activities in the WAGGGS' resource. Refreshments are provided and tickets cost £10 per member. Book tickets to the ICANDO event.
Waddow Hall
Brownies and Guides can get together have fun and go on adventures at Waddow Hall to celebrate World Thinking Day from 24 to 26 February.
There is a full programme of adventurous activities throughout the weekend that includes zipwire, tree climbing, climbing, canoeing, archery, an obstacle course, a wide game, torchlight walk and campfire. There will also be activities based on this years World Thinking Day theme, Our World, Our Peaceful Future. Book tickets to the Waddow Hall event.
