We need new walking advisers

Could you help more volunteers take members on outdoor adventures? Deadline midday, 15 December

We're recruiting two walking specialist outdoor advisers to support volunteers across the country take their young members on adventures.

We're looking for a lead and deputy walking specialist to engage volunteers and girls in safe, adventurous activity.

About these roles

As part of these roles, you will:

  • Inspire members to go outdoors and take on adventurous activities.
  • Advise on the qualifications, especially the the Girlguiding Walking Scheme.
  • Help plan and deliver training opportunities for walking.
  • Chair and be part of the Walking Scheme moderator group.

Responsibilities will be shared between two volunteers. The deputy specialist will take most of the responsibility for planning and delivering training weekends. However, the exact responsibilities of each adviser will be decided once both volunteers have been recruited.

Who can apply

Volunteers who are enthusiastic about outdoor adventure and have skills, experience and qualifications in walking, ideally including the Mountain Leader qualification. We're looking for volunteers who want to making outdoor activities inclusive and accessible, have good communication skills and experience of our Walking Scheme.

Time commitment

This role will last for at least one year but could be renewed for a further two years. Weekly hours will vary depending on events, meetings schedules and your own availability
