Help shape the future of WAGGGS Europe Region

WAGGGS Europe Region elect a volunteer committee every three years. Girlguiding are looking to put forward a candidate for this election. This will be held at the 16th WAGGGS Scout and Guide Europe Region Conference in Split, Croatia on 24-29 August 2019.

What will I do? 

As Girlguiding’s candidate for the WAGGGS Europe Committee you will be fully supported with your nomination and candidacy for election. You will be supported by the rest of the delegation to create a candidacy plan and campaign. Whilst at the conference you will need to give a presentation.

You will also get the opportunity to attend the 16th WAGGGS Scout and Guide Europe Region Conference as part of the Girlguiding delegation. The conference happens every three years and is an opportunity for all member organisations from across Europe to come together, make key decisions for the future and to share, learn and inspire each other. There will be a variety of speakers, trainings and sharing of learning sessions.

How much time will I need to give? 

You’ll need to be able to attend the full conference in Split, Croatia from 24 – 29 August 2019.

For the election, you’ll need to attend an interview by the WAGGGS nominations committee. You’ll also need to do some preparation work at home, such as preparing the conference presentation.

As part of the Girlguiding conference delegation you’ll attend one delegation briefing weekend which will either be the 11 – 12 May 2019 or the 1 – 2 June 2019. As well as join three or four phone conferences before the event with the rest of the delegation to help prepare for the conference.

If elected, you will serve a three year term of office.

Who can apply? 

To apply for the role you will need to be:

  • An active member of Girlguiding
  • Aged 18 or over

We are looking for people who have:

  • A good understanding for how WAGGGS work especially WAGGGS Europe
  • International experiences either within Girlguiding or independently
  • Great communication skills
  • A commitment to Girlguiding and WAGGGS’ mission and vision

  4. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview on Saturday 9 February 2019
