Our event for county commissioners

Connect more is our summit for county commissioners.

It’s a way to say thank you to each and every one of our amazing county commissioners who have kept guiding going in their area through uncertain times. And it’s a chance for you to meet other county commissioners from across Girlguiding in person to share experiences, build skills and confidence, and have fun together.

What is Connect more?

The event will have four zones, one for each of the themes from the commissioner review, confident, competent, happy and empowered.

In each zone you’ll take part in different sessions and activities to support you in your role as county commissioner.

Spend time in the confident and competent zones to build your skills and share ideas across a whole range of topics, from recruiting volunteers in new ways and building a team, to planning for your county and storytelling with impact, and much more in between.

In the happy zone, you’ll find ways to treat yourself and try out different relaxation activities, as well as practical skills for looking after yourself.

In the empowerment zone, you can book a surgery slot to get advice on different topics and questions as well as finding out more and helping shape some of the big projects and initiatives that are happening across Girlguiding in 2022 and 2023.

We’ll provide accommodation for Saturday night, breakfast on Sunday morning, buffet lunches on both days, and snacks tea and coffee throughout. On Saturday evening we will have a three-course celebration dinner.

Each country and region is responsible for managing travel expenses with county commissioners. Please contact your country or region office to confirm the process for your area.

If it’s essential for you to travel on Friday night, you can book a room directly with the hotel, using this link or if you require a room for Sunday night, you can book a room directly using this link. Please use these links so you get the special Girlguiding rate (15% off) and don’t need to move rooms during your stay. Check with your country or region office before you book if you’d like to reclaim your Friday accommodation costs as expenses.

How do I attend?

County commissioners have priority tickets but can nominate another team member to attend in their place. If your county operates a full role-share arrangement (where two people are recorded on GO as county commissioners, rather than a county commissioner and assistant/deputy) then both people in the role share are eligible to attend if your chief commissioner approves this.
